[01] the brief
A sign that reads at distance and survives the weather.
The client sent a pencil sketch and a photo of the porch mounting location. They needed house numbers, a family name, and enough contrast for evening porch light.
Constraints: outdoor exposure, match existing walnut trim, no painted fill — metal inlay only, two-week install deadline.
[02] the build
CNC pockets first, then brass seated flush.
We vectorised the lettering, ran test pockets on offcuts, then machined the final board and seated 3 mm brass strip by hand before oil finish.

“Exactly the weight and clarity we wanted — the brass catches light without shouting.”
[03] the result
Mounted at the entry, readable from the curb.
The sign has been up through a wet season with no lift at the inlay edges — the detail that matters is the flush brass line along the numerals.
